Morning Session (10am -12pm)
Dive into the world of theatrical puppetry! This interactive demonstration will explore the history and different styles of puppetry and how they relate to wider theatrical culture. We will also examine the motion of puppets and how influences from people, animals, and the materials used to make them can enhance their believability. Afternoon Session (1-3pm) In this hands-on puppet performance workshop, participants will have the opportunity to handle a broad selection of puppet types to see how to perform characters with them. Instruction will cover how to use character to inform movement, puppet to puppet interaction, and how to exaggerate emotions through the puppet. |

HG WOMEN'S PROJECTHGWP helps women connect in a variety of ways in the context of theatre arts. Since its inception, women have had greater opportunities to act, but also to write, direct, design (sets and lights), run sound and light boards, and produce eclectic entertainment for Northcentral Pennsylvania. Some seasons there are opportunities for men to act, direct, help backstage, and take workshops. We are grateful for several grants over the years from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, and for our loyal sponsors.

FOR SENIORS
Always a fun time, the Acting Up! group meets twice a month to read aloud scripts and short stories. Open to the young at heart, over 55 crowd, the program is intended to be an informal gathering of seniors who love theatre and want to experience a taste of acting but would prefer to read lines over memorization and taking the stage in front of an audience.

THEATRE EXCURSIONS
Several times a year, HG hosts theatre trips to see some incredible shows! These fundraising trips often include the Stratford Festival in Ontario, the Shaw Festival at Niagara-On-The-Lake Ontario and an overnight excursion to the theatre district in Cleveland, OH.
Upcoming trip: Stratford Festival in Ontario, Oct 11-13, 2024 |
INTERNSHIP
Generously sponsored each year by Eugene Seelye, the HG internship program offers an opportunity for an individual who is interested in theatre to work with the HG director and operations manager to produce and market upcoming stage plays. It is an immersive experience into the behind the scenes efforts to put together an engaging season for the community. To apply for the internship program, please call the office at 570-724-2079 or email hamgib@gmail.com.
