AND THIS IS OUR STORY by Thomas Putnam

The good times just keep happening at the Tioga County Fairgrounds these two weeks of HG's Theatre Arts Camp for kids. It's tiring, yes; non-stop from 9:00-3:00, but it's a good tiring. It's not tiring due to bad stress. In fact, as each day progresses, it's actually energizing; energizing due to the privilege of witnessing a group of kids who come from all over the county (and beyond) who embrace the challenge of learning lines and dance moves and songs and work with others to create something really cool. And learn a whole lot of history t' boot. (I don't know what that expression means.)

The script is a history of Tioga County. Since one of the main industries and shaping forces of our county was the lumber industry, we traveled over to the Lumber Museum and then to a cook-out at Leonard Harrison State Park and a talk by the resident ranger. All good stuff, and lots of fun. Much of what is referenced in the script was brought to life in both places. Thanks, Mr. Roth and Mr. Edkin!

I want to urge you to affirm and support these kids in their efforts. Even if you don't know any of them. Even if you claim to not like theatre or music or....kids. The whole show is about an hour long. It's fun for all ages. One performance at 3:00 and one at 6:30 at the Tioga County Fairgrounds. It's pay-what-you-can at the gate. Sit on wooden bleachers or bring your own lawn chair. We'll be in the “show barn;” just look for a bunch of colorful tie-dyed shirts milling round. Hope you can join us.
