      MYSTERIES, YES by Thomas Putnam

      23edw1eWe remember 9/11 tomorrow.
I have a friend who is fighting wildfires in California.
There is a Presidential election in less than two months.
      Our climate is...
A friend is standing in demonstrations in Rochester.
We hold auditions this week for a play about struggling for the truth—will we even be able to perform it? Will we have the right actors to bring this story to life?

My step-mother is 99 and hasn't been able to touch family members since March.
A friend is battling health issues, trying to navigate teaching on-line/in-person, lost a dear dog companion and then had vehicle crash into the barn along with two trees crashing into the house.
HG opens a play tomorrow night and we can only seat a few people in the theatre; a play about a woman who for six years has never left her house.
Oh, yes, did I list a virus gone wild that holds new surprises every day and simply won't be pinned down...

      Mysteries, yes.

Truly, we live with mysteries too marvelous
      to be understood.

How grass can be nourishing in the
      mouths of lambs.
How rivers and stones are forever
      in allegiance with gravity
while we ourselves dream of rising.
How two hands touch and the bonds will
      never be broken.
How people come, from delight or the
      scars of damage,
to the comfort of a poem

Let me keep my distance, always, from those
who think they have the answers.

Let me keep company always with those who say
      “Look!” and laugh in astonishment,
      and bow their heads.
